A Mystery, An Encounter

A mystery, an encounter

Each person who passes through our life is unique. He always leaves a little of himself and takes a little of us. There will be those who will take a lot, but there will be those who will not leave us anything. This is the evident proof that two souls do not meet by chance  ”Jorge Luis Borges

Our life is full of encounters with others, be it with a family member, a friend, our partner or even a stranger. We are continually meeting others, interacting with them, however, we rarely stop to reflect on the nature and richness of these contacts. Be it a small moment, or long hours of conversation, each of these encounters brings with it a lot of wealth and growth if we stop to observe them.

Two people meet, two worlds meet

Couple having an encounter

The encounter between two people, whether through friendship, love or any other reason, is something complex. Each person is a world, a mystery, with their past experiences, their personal characteristics and their fears. Relationships with others are therefore a mystery, an enigma.

When two people meet, it is as if a new world is created from them, just by meeting, a new existence appears, and it is through this phenomenon that both people begin to change and transform, the result of the relationship that has started between them. As noted by the famous Swiss psychiatrist Carl G. Jung, ” The encounter between two people is like the contact of two chemical substances: if there is a reaction, both are transformed .” And although in the beginning only the peripheries or surfaces of these meet, if you gain intimacy or become closer, little by little their centers or depths can come together. That is, they are no longer one person and another, from the moment they are related, the essence of the relationship itself is formed as a compendium of all their interactions.

The importance of interactions

Couple talking

Each person responsible for a meeting collaborates with a word, a phrase, a gesture or his silence. What matters to you is that we never stop communicating, because even when we do not pretend and keep quiet, we are already sending a message to the other with our silence. And yet the richness of all this often goes unnoticed. Whether it is a pleasant encounter or an unpleasant one, everything that happens influences us, allowing us to grow in one way or another. The important thing is that we realize it, that we live the interaction, and get the juice that it offers us to advance in our learning.

It is not just worrying about what is good or bad in the other, but to see how it affects us, and what we can extract from it all towards us. Immerse ourselves in that encounter, and take advantage of it to grow, realizing where we are wrong, how we are right, what we teach or are taught, being able to appreciate the beauty of interaction, the ability to share.

The important thing is not to work only with our experience, but to enrich ourselves with what they teach us, and take advantage of the moment to enjoy that experience, positive or negative, but that if we are aware it will never leave us indifferent because we will learn from it.
